AM2019 PRO06 Clinical Cases in Gastrointestinal Oncology

This session will be a minimum of 2 case based discussions. The first will be on the management of GE junction cancer and it will discuss the classification, the optimal adjuvant treatment of GE junction cancer, impact of more intensive chemotherapy and targeted agents and management of the patient. The next case will discuss evidence based management of locally advanced rectal cancer including preoperative evaluation, different treatment philosophies in neoadjuvant therapy etc. All cases will also include discussion and delineation of relevant target volumes, emerging clinical trials and where appropriate provide information on emerging molecular prognosticators in keeping with the meeting theme providing a focus on a practical understanding of precision medicine. Time permitting a third case on pancreatic cancer will also be discussed.

The meeting is designed to meet the interests of radiation oncologists and residents.

  • Explain and discuss rationale for outlining radiation target volumes under different clinical scenarios.
