Advances in Breast Cancer Management: Early-Stage Disease, Post-Neoadjuvant Radiation Therapy and IMRT for Breast Cancer Treatment in a Community Setting
There are multiple new developments in the treatment of breast cancer patients with radiation therapy, as well as ongoing developments in the use of breast IMRT. Practicing clinicians need to stay informed to improve outcomes among breast cancer patients.
This activity involves three discussants using case-based presentations to review recent advances in breast cancer treatment. The first discussant addresses when to treat early-stage breast cancer patients, including a review of the recent ASTRO APBI guidelines and the IDEA and Lumina 1 trial. The second discussant examines radiation therapy in the post-neoadjuvant setting, including an assessment of the NSABP B-51 results. The third discussant assesses indications and techniques for using breast IMRT.
