The scientific program continues to be an ideal platform to bring together radiation oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists, as well as clinicians, scientists and researchers from all oncologic disciplines to exchange ideas, promote multidisciplinary care and address the educational and professional development interests of our attendees. The program highlights advances in radiation therapy planning and delivery systems, as well as in digital health care, patient reported outcomes and value driven quality care, among other key issues. The innovations in technology and biology that drive the field are also featured. Scientific and educational sessions cover the standard clinical areas important to the field, including breast, central nervous system, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecological, head and neck, lymphoma, musculoskeletal, pediatric, sarcoma and thoracic cancers as well as fundamentals and applications of radiation biology and physics.

The theme for the 2025 ASTRO Annual Meeting is “Rediscovering Radiation Medicine and Exploring New Indications.” The meeting focuses on the patient perspective and engagement to develop and advance research by elevating clinical trials, addressing the integral role of research in patient care, and providing a diverse education program featuring clinical and scientific advancements. The program also features learning paths that focus on professional development and strategies to strengthen patient-centered care while empowering radiation oncology professionals across the cancer care community.

The Annual Meeting emphasizes patient quality and safety issues in the delivery of radiation therapy, especially advanced radiation techniques such as stereotactic body radiation therapy. The program addresses the disease sites most commonly treated in radiation oncology, the equipment and software used, terminology and professional roles and multidisciplinary care team responsibilities. Program content was designed to address specific documented and clinically important practice gaps in physician knowledge and competence including disparities and inequities in radiation oncology. There also is increased involvement of patients and patient advocates who provided valuable input in all aspects of the meeting design.
