2022 Annual Meeting - Challenging Cases in Palliation

Radiation oncology teams share emotional and physical challenges in their daily work. The challenges of dealing empathetically with patients at critical times in their lives, the challenges of the technical nature of our delivery of radiation treatments, and the challenges of managing post-treatment sequelae are difficult, especially when there is confusion about the best path of treatment. We will discuss some complex cases in an open forum.

Target Audience

The activity is designed to meet the interests of radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, surgeons, nurses and radiation oncology residents.

Learning Objectives

    Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

    • Discuss rationales to decrease provider stress in dealing with difficult cases.
    • Identify mechanisms of rapprochement of different perspectives in therapy.
