Radiopharmaceuticals

Radiopharmaceutical therapy has been a breakthrough technology and has a growing role in radiation oncology practices in both academic and community centers. For this session, we review currently FDA approved agents and clinical indications as well as briefly discuss upcoming agents/indications. We also review important considerations for starting a radiopharmaceutical therapy program and safety guidelines.

Target Audience

The meeting is designed to meet the interests of practicing radiation oncologists, radiation oncology residents, medical and clinical physicists, radiation therapists, radiation dosimetrists, nurses and all other health professionals involved in the field of radiation oncology.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Describe the basics of theranostics and radiopharmaceutical therapy.
  • Identify current FDA approved indications and clinical data.
  • Identify needs for implementing a new radiopharmaceutical therapy program.
