2020 Abstract Reviewer Training

The ASTRO Abstract Reviewer training is an online program designed to clarify abstract study designs in order to enable the reviewers to score more predictably and homogenously. The guidelines provided will prepare the reviewers in advance of entering the review site, so that they have common questions at the forefront of their mind which should improve focus and foster objectivity and avoid bias.

When reviewing scientific abstracts for the ASTRO Annual Meeting it can be difficult to stay objective and to decide on a score that best represents that study. In order to standardize the process, ASTRO has developed guidelines that provide reviewers with questions to consider in advance of scoring. The guidelines are designed to provide adequate guidance so that scoring is more predictable and homogenous, and more importantly, unbiased.
