Regional lung function profiles of Stage I and III lung cancer patients: an evaluation for functional avoidance radiation therapy

IJROBP Journal SA-CME activity from July 15, 2016 (Volume 95, Issue 4) looks at technology and technique related to the use of 4-D CT data to calculate lung function maps to potentially identify avoidance regions during radiation planning for lung cancer treatment. This course is available from June 19, 2016, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 18, 2018.

    Target Audience

This program is designed to meet the interest of radiation oncologists, radiation oncology residents, and radiation dosimetrists.

    Learning Objectives

Upon conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

    • Explain the clinical importance of including functional avoidance in treatment planning for non-small cell lung cancer.
    • Summarize the methodology of using 4-D CT data to generate ventilation maps in patients undergoing treatment planning for non-small cell lung cancer.
    • Quantify the approximate proportion of patients who might benefit from functional avoidance in treatment planning for non-small cell lung cancer.
