Join us for a series of informal engagement sessions designed to provide a space for open discussions and collaboration around mentorship, sponsorship and career transitions. These 30-minute online sessions are open to all ASTRO members and members-in-training.

Whether you are seeking guidance on building supportive professional relationships, strategizing your next career move, or exploring alternative career paths, these discussions will offer valuable perspectives tailored to a broad community of oncology professionals.

Session Topics
Mentorship: Attendees will engage in a discussion on how to build and sustain meaningful mentoring relationships across all career stages. Topics will include finding the right mentor, setting expectations, and maintaining a healthy balance between mentor and mentee roles. The discussion will highlight the value of mentorship in career development, the importance of professional satisfaction, and how to navigate the unique challenges faced in radiation oncology.
Job Promotions, Transitions, and Leveling Up: Attendees will provide practical strategies for advancing your career in radiation oncology, whether in academic medicine, private practice, or hybrid models. The discussion will cover how to prepare for promotions, recognize when it’s time to transition, and position yourself for leadership opportunities. Attendees will gain insight into overcoming common hurdles, navigating institutional politics, and leveraging mentorship and sponsorship to take their careers to the next level—both within radiation oncology and the broader oncology community.
Exploring Careers Beyond the Clinic: Attendees will discuss their transitions to careers outside the traditional clinic setting, including roles in industry, government, foundations and non-profit organizations. This session will explore how to assess and take steps to pursue a broad range of career paths, identify transferable skills, and find professional fulfillment in your chosen career.
