eContouring for Breast Cancer

This activity focuses on evidence-based breast cancer contouring practices. It covers accelerated partial breast irradiation, whole breast contouring with considerations for different fractionation schedules, breast boost volumes including simultaneous integrated boosts, regional nodal irradiation volumes including internal mammary nodal boosts, and how volumes may differ when IMRT versus 3-D photon vs. electron techniques are used.

This activity includes a recorded didactic background lecture and case/contour review. Participants also have access to the online contouring platform to contour practice cases prepared by the faculty and receive a metric score based on the accuracy of their contour(s) compared to the faculty.

Cases Covered

Case 1: Post-Mastectomy and Regional Nodal Irradiation

Case 1a: IMN Boost - There are no practice contours for this case.

Case 2: Accelerated Partial Breast Irradiation

This activity is available from June 11, 2025, through 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 10, 2027.

The content was originally presented and recorded during the 2025 ASTRO Annual Refresher Course.

Target Audience

The activity is designed to meet the interests of radiation oncologists, physicists, dosimetrists and radiation oncology residents.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
