Breast Cancer-Refresher 2017

This session will focus on the management of breast cancer.  It will cover patient selection for breast conservation, the appropriate surgical margin, fractionation and management of the regional nodes in women with axillary nodal involvement. It will also include management of DCIS, postmastectomy radiation and management of the patient with locally advanced and inflammatory disease. In addition, the vexing issue of radiation following preoperative systemic therapy (both with and without a complete response) will be addressed. Finally, treatment planning issues unique to breast cancer will be discussed.

This program is designed to meet the interest of radiation oncologists, surgeons, and radiation oncology residents.

  • Increase the use of hypofractionation in the treatment of early-stage breast cancer.
  • Discuss the role of regional nodal radiation in women with positive lymph nodes.
