This is a historically well-attended and well-reviewed session that covers challenging clinical scenarios arising in the management of patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. The discussants will include a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist, and a surgical oncologist to provide multidisciplinary perspective on management of pancreatic, hepatobiliary, and colorectal cancers. Cases will be chosen to highlight best practices as well as evidence-based approaches to areas of current clinical ambiguity or controversy. The session will be designed with multiple short cases (~ 10 – 12 min) incorporating audience response questions to engage the attendees.

The session is not designed to provide a full review of medical literature related to each disease, but to highlight critical points that can be incorporated into everyday medical decision making. The goal will be to present a mix of difficult scenarios that are commonly encountered in clinical practice (i.e. rectal cancer with oligometastases, decision making for total neoadjuvant therapy for rectal cancer, locally advanced/borderline resectable pancreas cancer, primary liver cancer) with a few less common scenarios (i.e. cholangiocarcinoma) with which the audience may have less direct clinical familiarity but still encounter in a general practice setting.
