2. Non-Malignant Disease Coding and Billing
This content reviews proper coding and billing guidance for treating non-malignant conditions and how to apply to new surface radiation therapy codes when applicable.

3. NCCI PTP Edits & Coding Modifiers
This content reviews how to understand the NCCI PTP edits in place and how to properly use coding modifiers for billing purposes.

4. Physician Supervision: Site of Service Distinctions and Recent Changes
This content explores Supervision policies as they apply in both the hospital and freestanding setting. It addresses key questions that frequently arise and provide resources for establishing practice specific supervision policies.

Target Audience

This activity is designed to meet the interests of radiation oncologists, physicists, radiation therapists, radiation dosimetrists, practice administrators, certified coders and professional coders.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Understand which codes have been deleted and consolidated for treatment delivery.
  • Properly apply the new delivery codes to clinical scenarios.
  • Make any necessary changes to current practice patterns if needed.
  • Understand how to bill for image guidance under the new code set.
  • Apply the new delivery codes to benign clinical cases.
  • Apply the new surface RT codes if using superficial or orthovoltage machines.
  • Understand the differences in coding for treating malignant vs benign disease.
  • Access the NCCI PTP edits files.
  • Apply coding modifiers correctly in specific clinical scenarios.
  • Understand the intricacies of the differing supervision levels and requirements. 
  • Understand updated supervision rules based on the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule 2024 final rule from CMS.
  • Make any necessary changes to current practice patterns if needed.
  • Know when to correctly use audio/visual technologies for certain radiation oncology services.
