eContouring for Thoracic

This session provides a practical, case-based review of contemporary thoracic target and organ-at-risk delineation, with a particular focus on critical mediastinal and central thoracic structures. Participants can engage in hands-on contouring exercises and review optimal motion-management pathways, including practical aspects of respiratory gating and deep inspiration breath-hold techniques. The session also highlights practical considerations for simulation, treatment planning (including dose constraints), and treatment delivery, to ensure accurate, reproducible thoracic radiotherapy while minimizing dose to critical organs at risk.

Target Audience

The meeting is designed to meet the interests of practicing radiation oncologists, radiation oncology residents, medical and clinical physicists, radiation therapists, radiation dosimetrists, nurses and all other health professionals involved in the field of radiation oncology.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Describe and perform contouring for central and ultra-central lung cases.
  • Identify resources for thoracic/lung cancer contouring of critical organs at risk.
  • Implement learned simulation, contouring, and treatment planning techniques in clinical practice.
